The Girl and I spent the evening working on campaign setting and rules for teh shineh rpg. :D I have managed to successfully spam my own flist. (I'll probably take the IC comm off my watch list since it'll be watched on character journals.)

IT HAS MAPS MADE OF HEXAGONS.

newhope_rpg and newhope_ooc are the homes to the new crack. All the campaign setting stuff is in the OOC community.

We haven't gotten apps and posting format hammered out yet (posting will probably be like what we had back in RV just 'cause it's easy to use). no1detective and gogglesdozip's complete profiles are probably the direction we're going to go in as far as character information. It's a bit more general than before, but that helps let the app become the roleplaying test and saves us some space. Also not 100% sure how we're going to do fandoms. I'm tempted to just say "anything that fits the campaign setting" and see what people want to play.

And since I have a shit-ton of it, I shall now spend a good time in a food coma. At least I won't have to worry about feeding myself if I can get around to packing the kitchen today.

OMG I LOVE LJLOGIN!

It's got cross-platform support that includes DW! I can easily and lazily switch between main and rping accounts on both sites now! :D

In other news, my apartment looks like a bomb made of boxes went off and I'm still about halfway done with packing. (I need to get the junk in the closets and the kitchen.) OMG OMG OMG

I also made an RP account for Uran after going through a million Youtube videos because I can't get screengrab for free from the DVD player. XD Can't wait to chuck her at people. (At this rate I'll end up tweaking things since I haven't completely finished the 2003 series she's drawn from and I know I'll probably want to screw around with icons. The Girl and I have a pact to watch Astro Boy together, so I can't cheat and watch ahead even on Youtube. Darnit.)

OMG GAIZ I AM MOVING NEXT SATURDAY WTF I DON'T EVEN KNOW.

I spent most of this afternoon moving my utilities and doing other change of address stuff. NOW it's finally sinking in. HOLYCRAP. (This does mean I'll be without internet for a couple of days.. but it's just 'til the Monday after, and I'm getting both faster DSL and better phone service out of the deal. I think my net connection might even be faster than Mom's cable connection after I move!)

And now back to making phone calls. O.O

So The Girl and I were thinking about getting the band back together.

I used to GM a Megaman-based multiversal game on LJ. Eventually rp started conflicting with work (and, indeed, I was rping like 4-5 hours a night and going craaaaaazy) and I had to pry my hands off the crack. The game actually managed to survive a few more months before caving, and in all it managed to outlive the average lifespan of an LJ rpg. (18 months of really active play is nothing to sneeze at) It was a happy time.

I also really miss getting to do awesome story-based rp. Playing on RP servers in WoW just ain't the same. And while I've kept up playing out stuff with The Girl, well, there's stuff you can do in a two-person rp and stuff you can't.

I've been slowly pecking away at worldbuilding stuff for a new campaign setting. The Girl's been helping a bit. And since we've both developed an unhealthy fondness for Astro Boy in addition to our Megaman addictions, we've been trying to figure out a more inclusive list of possible fandoms to draw on. (And it would be cracky. Just saying.) It's a generally SF setting with a huge element of robotics, cyberspace/VR, and transhumanism mixed liberally with a bit of high-tech frontier town. No plans to connect the setting to the Nexus or have it be a Nexus-based game, just because I wouldn't want to end up having to deal with fallout from plots happening elsewhere.

I would be interested in feedback on what fandoms might be cool for a setting like this or what characters people who also miss rp would be interested in playing. (we've already settled on allowing all the Mega Men, Astro Boys, various robot movie type fandoms, and Reboot.. I'm of two minds about Transformers or Gundam even though both pretty heavily feature different types of robot. Maybe some Big O action? I just don't want giant robot fights to erupt since they could take out the entire setting pretty easily and I'd rather make people have to work to destroy the setting! I'm also debating just throwing it open to any SF sort of fandom and let Bob sort it out.) I'll probably be posting a lot of development stuff over the next few days, if only to have some backups of the material.

The game itself would have to be on LJ-- I don't have any illusions about the general rp community moving off LJ anytime soon.

Got to spend some time with The Girl. We watched Up since I managed to score the DVD of it yesterday. It still made me cry. And the new little short about Dug also made me cry. Both in a good way.

I don't know what it is about movies geared towards children and making me cry.

I'm actually tipping at a bit of fanfic. It's an idea that's been kicking around my head for a while so I thought I'd try and do something with it. Let's just say it's Dr. Light's revenge for getting fridged and/or made into a bit of an ass in a lot of my fanfics. XD And that Blues takes after him far more than he'd like to admit.

It's gotten chilly again. I hope this means fall's here to stay finally. I hate it when the temps see-saw like they do a lot of the time. I usually end up getting sick when it happens and I have too much crap to do to get sick right now.

Continuing also to watch the 2003 Astro Boy. And.. well.. This is their character model for Dr. Tenma:

As you can see, he has a rather unfortunate resemblance to a chicken. And since I've taken a bit of an instant dislike to him as a person, at least on-screen, well... there's been a lot of clucking involved. Especially since in a lot of his dramatic scenes he's backlit in profile so he really looks like a chicken.

And since I am dead tired this is hilarious. So I shall leave you with that.

It's been nearly two years since I moved off LJ.

To be honest, I've been missing the company. D: Most of my LJ friends didn't migrate off the site, and while I've been lurking and making the occasional pithy comment as usual, it's like half the normal conversation has been missing.

Sooooooo.. I made the call to add LJ to my DW crossposter. That way nobody has to try and follow me to Dreamwidth (where I keep my primary journaling account-- after the crap-up back in 07, I just don't want to have my data only be there/be tempted to give them money) but people can still see what I've been posting. I'm not going to be moving any fics back to LJ, but at least this way people can get the links to my fic journal and all when I start actually putting stuff together there.

(I still have like a billion invite codes if anyone does eventually want a DW and doesn't have one. I will be glad to dip into my stash.)

The footer you see at the end on the IJ and LJ posts is just the link back to the Dreamwidth account, if only so you know where the primary entry is hiding, etc.

My tags are probably going to end up a TRAINWRECK.

BTW, I've gotten a bit less fansquee and a bit more bitchy in the last two years. I hope nobody minds cussing. Though I am easily distracted by robots.
